A Little About Oroville & Area

Local Lore

Oroville’s Chamber of Commerce is the oldest and largest business organization in the area and has served the community for well over 100 years.

Founded in the 1840s at the beginning of the California Gold Rush, Oroville is rich in history ready to be rediscovered. A picturesque and prosperous community, Oroville blends small-town charm with a diverse business economy. Blessed with a wide variety of recreation, housing, employment, and educational opportunities, the Oroville area is the perfect place to visit or live.

Oroville is loaded with things to do and see. Abundant water, whether lake, river or bay, whets the appetite for boating, swimming and fishing. Oroville is proud of its five museums, including the Bolt Antique Tool Museum and the Chinese Temple, true treasures of ancient artifacts. From the historic downtown district to the picturesque mountain areas, Oroville has it all!

And not to be forgotten: The Feather River is one of the few rivers that still boast salmon runs. Thousands of fish fight their way from the Pacific ocean to come home to Oroville, and are celebrated in the annual Salmon Festival.

Think about it – if the salmon visit every year – maybe you should, too!

Just wanted you to know that you do an awfully good job with the chamber page and your contact with the membership.
It is a privilege to be a member of the chamber.

Being a chamber member has allowed me to become acquainted with my business peers.  Those relationships have helped me to grow my business.  I expecially enjoy attending chamber events where I meet people face to face.  I'm a firm believer that connecting with others is the best way to grow a business.

I want to make sure to let you know how much the great attendance at our recent Chamber of Commerce meant to me, all the staff and the residents!  I know the mixer was a huge success because within days we had people calling to find out about our new "NO Entrance Fee" policy.  Word of mouth is one of the best forms of advertising, so thank you for sharing that message with your friends and associates!
